as I was going about getting breakfast cleaned up and laundry started, he followed me around, in and out of my legs, saying in his halting baby way, “Hair cut not hurt me. Hair cut not hurt me. Hair cut not hurt me.” Over and over again he said it, as if he were talking up his own courage to get his haircut.
